SUPPORT  OUR
"SPONSOR A PET" PROGRAM

Although we've made great strides at the shelter, we still continue to struggle with the ongoing monthly expenses , and we ask  for your support.

The economy slow down and recent layoffs in the oil industry has greatly reduced the donations to the shelter.                                                                  Conversely, the number of animals being relinquished to the shelter has increased dramatically.                                                                     We are seeing more and more people bringing in their pets, simply because they can no longer afford to feed and care for them. We are also seeing more pets relinquished because people are moving out of the area or into apartments or rental homes that do not accept pets.
Although we have had some great responses to our fund raising efforts, we are still running short on meeting our monthly expenses.

The  "Sponsor A Pet" program is designed to provide for an ongoing source of regular monthly income  that we can count on to help pay our monthly expenses and plan for future needs.

We greatly appreciate any amount you can afford to give

   Please give a pledge of
$10, $20, or $50 a month to help support the shelter.
Thank you.

With our "Sponsor A Pet" program, you can  sponsor an animal, and we will send you a picture  of your sponsored pet. You can come in and  personally meet your sponsored pet, play with them in one of the large play areas or take a walk around the grounds.

We Share A Vision

The Roice-Hurst Humane Society*s  Board of Directors and staff share a vision.
A vision of providing  sanctuary to every homeless pet who comes to our door and  finding a *Forever Home*  for all abandoned and lost animals.
A dream of a community, state, and  nation of animal shelters that embrace the concept of "No More Killing" of innocent animals because of lack of space or resources.
We share a goal of providing a temporary home for abandoned pets to receive not only food and shelter, but also the nourishment of love and attention from a staff and  that truly cares for its' animal friends.

We dream of a facility where the community can come together to enjoy the animals and be involved in their care and placement. Where training and education on animal issues can be provided to children and adults. Where volunteers can contribute in a meaningful manner. We envision and a community that supports their homeless animals with donations of money, as well as donations of their time and their hearts.
We Need More Dog Walkers!
We have plenty of dogs,  but we need more dog walkers.  This is one of the most important volunteer jobs that you can perform for our homeless dogs.
Many of the dogs that come to us are strays and have been on the streets, alone,  scared, and hungry.    Others are relinquished to us from people who, for one reason or another, can't keep them anymore.
Whatever the reasons, it's a tough time for the dog. As you can imagine, it's a scary experience and often the dog reacts with fear or inappropriate behavior.
But, thanks to our small but dedicated group of regular dog walkers, our dogs are being walked, trained, and socialized. They are learning the skills and good habits that make them more adoptable. These same skills help them stay adopted, insuring  a true "Forever Home."
Unfortunately, we do not have enough regular dog walkers to meet our needs.                                In addition to walking the dogs, our volunteers do light grooming and basic training like, "sit", "stay", and "come". You can play "fetch" or Frisbee in our huge play yard under the trees. Most important, our dogs get to experience good people who love dogs.
If you would like to join our great group of dog walkers and provide the love and attention our furry friends so desperately need, please join us for our                                        FREE DOG WALKING CLASS
