Roice-Hurst Humane Society
"A No-Kill Animal Shelter"
About Us - Who We Are - What We Do
Roice-Hurst is a "No Kill" animal shelter, providing loving care for homeless dogs and cats.
Hours : Closed on Tuesdays. Mon. - Sat. 11:00 am to 6:00 pm Sun. 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Roice-Hurst Humane Society has served the homeless dog and cat population of Mesa County for over forty seven years. Through the decades, the organization has weathered financial ups-and-downs of our local economy and substantial population growth.
In January of 2010, the Board of Directors of RHHS adopted new Mission and Vision statements, developed guiding principles, and a business statement to ensure consistency, accountability, and transparency. It is with these new pillars that RHHS will move forward into the future.
Our Mission:
To provide safety, shelter and care for homeless dogs and cats in Colorado’s “Grand Valley.” As a
“no-kill” shelter, we are dedicated to placing these companion animals in loving, permanent homes. We promote
responsible pet ownership and humane education through collaboration with the area’s animal welfare
community.
Our Vision:
We envision a unified Western Slope society that values the life of every companion animal; where no
healthy, treatable and adoptable dog or cat is euthanized; and where every pet finds a safe, loving and
permanent home.
Our Guiding Principals:
- WE SHARE A GOAL to provide shelter for homeless dogs and cats and find everyone who comes to our door a
“forever” home.
- WE ARE PLANNING A FACILITY where the public learns about animal welfare, rescue and responsible pet
ownership; where volunteers are involved in the care and placement of homeless pets; and where staff has the
resources to not only feed and house our animals, but to enrich their lives.
- WE ARE WORKING TOWARDS A COMMUNITY that not only provides financial support for its homeless
animals, but which gives its time, talents, and heart to ensure that every pet has a safe and loving home.
- WE WILL DEMONSTRATE COMMITMENT, COMPASSION and COURAGE in our efforts to lead by example
and be transparent and authentic in everything we say and do.
